SCHURTER AG obtains ISO 50001 certificate for its energy management system
The SQS audits in the SCHURTER Lucerne and Mendrisio facilities took place this spring. They reviewed the company's observance of several international standards including ISO 9001 for quality management systems, ISO 14001 for environmental management systems and OHSAS 18001 for occupational health and safety. SCHURTER AG successfully passed the audits without any non-conformances. In addition, the energy management system at SCHURTER AG was also certified as being compliant with ISO 50001. In this regard, SCHURTER AG is playing a pioneering role because until now only some 20 to 30 companies in Switzerland have been certified to this standard. SCHURTER AG is very pleased with the results, which it believes confirm the company's efforts in the area of energy efficiency. In the future, too, SCHURTER AG will continue to reduce the environmental impact arising from its use of energy and in doing so assume a leadership role.
ISO standards are those published by the International Standards Organization. Their goal is to serve as a benchmark by which an organization can rate itself and they also represent a seal of quality. ISO 50001 for energy management systems, for example, defines the requirements for systematic energy management at an international level. By meeting these requirements, a company can increase its energy efficiency and reduce the environmental impact arising from its use of energy.
