Each year, college students from all over the United States participate in the Formula SAE Electric contest. The Society of Automotive Engineers oversees this event, which offers a platform for upcoming electric vehicle (EV) engineers to create and construct an open-wheel, single-seater, electric race car.
SCHURTER Inc proudly supports the Formula Racing at UC Davis (FSAE Electric) engineering students for the second year in a row! The USF 1206 fuse was selected to provide safety-critical overcurrent protection in the custom battery pack of the e-car #291. Challenged with limited space near the battery terminals, a compact fuse with the appropriate voltage and current rating was sought, and SCHURTER’s USF 1206 was identified as the only source meeting the requirements.
This year’s UC Davis team was able to build on their experience from last year and create a more manufacturable design. Power density in the battery cells and increased cooling efficiency were also realized.
SCHURTER Inc is proud to be the supplier of choice for the UC Davis Formula Racing team. Their respected industry reputation and commitment to excellence are a perfect match!
