On January 2, 2022, the SCHURTER Group has gone live with the latest SAP release S/4HANA. After an evaluation phase, the project team managed to implement the system conversion successfully in just 14 months.
Replacing the existing SAP landscape was challenging. After more than 20 years in operation, a large number of extensions, over 100 interfaces and the integration with other core applications of the company had to be adapted and put through their paces in advance. Despite difficulties such as COVID-19, limited availability of resources or the limited number of on-site appointments, the go-live went smoothly.
1000 users worldwide
Around 1000 users in 17 Group companies worldwide were thus able to start working on the morning of January 3, 2022, relaxed and without any technical problems. Just as if nothing had happened.
SCHURTER now has a brand-new, state-of-the-art system. It has a very fast in-memory-based database as well as optimized and accelerated SAP applications.
What's next?
The new S/4 platform allows SCHURTER to track and enable developments and ensures best connectivity to modern cloud services such as Sales Cloud or SAP Analytics Cloud.
The new platform offers more possibilities in the use of business intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotic process automation (RPA) and the browser-based FIORI user interface for all types of devices.
Ready
Many of the innovations mentioned above are ultimately made possible by the new S/4 platform in the first place. The rightness of the motivation to introduce S/4HANA at an early stage became increasingly clear to us the deeper we dived into this matter. SCHURTER is ready. With S/4HANA, an essential part of the digitization roadmap is in place – for today and for the future.
